Vegan Recipes – Buffalo Cauliflower Wings

One of the beautiful things on our vegan journey is learning about all these vegan recipes and cooking all these delicious new meals. I was never the one to enjoy spending time in the kitchen and I always looked at cooking as a chore. But things have truly changed since we have chosen a plant-based diet.

We are learning a lot about new spices and tastes while enjoying some amazing meals. Personally, I am more of a one-pot-meals-kind-of-person, but recently I started to venture!

As we discover some of these dishes, we want to share them with you. Hopefully you enjoy what you see and try these savory vegan recipes yourself.

So… we recently learned about the buffalo cauliflower wings. We had them as appetizers and they were so good! While I never cooked buffalo chicken wings in my life, I was determined to make buffalo cauliflower wings. And they turned out amazing. We followed this simple recipe. It was quick, easy and the final result – delicious! In fact it was so good, we will make them again this weekend!

You will need these ingredients:

  • 1 cup water or soy milk
  • 1 cup flour (any kind will work—in fact we used gluten-free!)
  • 2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 head of cauliflower, chopped into pieces
  • 1 cup buffalo or hot sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil or melted vegan margarine

To make the buffalo cauliflower wings – vegan recipes:

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  • Combine the water or soy milk, flour, and garlic powder in a bowl and stir until well combined.
  • Coat the cauliflower pieces with the flour mixture and place in a shallow baking dish. Bake for 18 minutes.
  • While the cauliflower is baking, combine your buffalo sauce and olive oil or margarine in a small bowl.
  • Pour the hot sauce mixture over the baked cauliflower and continue baking for an additional 5 to 8 minutes.

We also made our our vegan ranch dressing to serve with the wings – super easy to make and delicious. For the dressing, you will need these ingredients:

  • 1 cup vegan mayonnaise
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons parsley, chopped
  • 1⁄2 cup unsweetened soymilk

Tips we learned:

  1. Bake the cauliflower for maybe 14 min versus 18 for a crunchier feel
  2. Broil them at the end for several minutes, just to get that golden brown
  3. Make half of the ranch dressing, as we had half of it left over. Since we (virtually) don’t waste food in this house, we had to quickly find other ways to eat it. Thank God the dressing was delicious, so there was no problem eating it in the next several days.  🙂
